Hiccup.
My Wolfman bit disappeared into the realms of internet afterlife as I was trying to update it to include the recently announced decision that Joe Johnston, of October Sky and Jurassic Park III, has been hired to take over after Mark Romanek decided to vacate. At the risk of unoriginality, I think Johnston’s better than Ratner, and I have no major problem with anything he’s done, but the decision strikes me as boring. I’m still interested in Del Toro’s Talbot and Baker’s Wolfie, but that’s about it.

Joe “The Rocketeer” Johnston
I’ll say it, I actually like The Rocketeer.

I also enjoy The Rocketeer, though I haven’t seen it in some time. October Sky isn’t bad either. I’m rooting for Johnson to make it work.

I resaw “The Rocketeer” not too long ago. It lies firmly in “The Shadow” territory. Except “The Rocketeer” doesn’t have Alec Baldwin vamping.

The Rocketeer has a inexplicably awesome cast: Tomothy Dalton, Alan Arkin, Paul Sorvino, Terry O’Quinn (John Locke!),and Jennifer Connelly.
Back on topic:
Another often overlooked thing about Joe Johnston is that he pretty much directed all the special effects scenes in the best Star Wars movie and Raiders.

I enjoy both The Shadow and The Rocketeer for exactly what they are: pulp cheese without a shred of self-consciousness.
I didn’t know that about SW and Raiders Ben, thanks for the heads up.
